Amy Blanchard enters her third season at the Head Women's Lacrosse Coach at Maine Maritime Academy. In 2019 Blanchard led the Mariners to a 5-7 record, 3-2 in the North Atlantic Conference (NAC), the team's highest regular season finish (third) and third-consecutive NAC Tournament appearance. Blanchard also produced the 2019 NAC Women's Lacrosse Co-Defensive Player of the Year, Christina Wilson and placed a program-high five players on the NAC All-Conference teams.
Blanchard helped lead the Mariners to a 6-6 overall record, including a 3-4 record in NAC play, in her first season, the team's highest winning percentage in program history.
In addition to her coaching duties, Blanchard serves as an Admissions Counselor for the Academy.
A native of Morristown, N.J., Blanchard is a 2017 graduate from William Smith College. Blanchard played in 74 games making 54 starts on defense for the Herons, including a number of NCAA playoff games. The Herons finished the 2017 season with a program records for wins (20) and caused turnovers (255), and made their first NCAA tournament quarterfinal appearance since 2003. In addition to her playing experience, Blanchard coached the Tri-State Lacrosse Girls All-Stars in Highstown, N.J. from 2014 through 2015.
Playing her final two seasons under Anne Phillips, Blanchard became one of the Herons most acclaimed athletes. As a junior, she earned the Melissa Mulliken '80 Award, presented to the William Smith student whose team participation and leadership in intercollegiate athletics, combined with off-the-field endeavors, has led to the advancement of William Smith athletics. She followed that in her senior year earning the Madeline Buckley '15 Award, presented annually to a student-athlete who best displays character, teamwork and citizenship. The recipient espouses the standards and values of William Smith Athletics and demonstrates a commitment to service and community engagement.
Blanchard graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Media and Society in 2017. As an undergraduate, she served as a copywriting intern for McCann Echo. The two-time Liberty League All-Academic selection and 2013 High School Academic All-American spent a semester abroad in Aix-en-Provence, France.
