CASTINE, Maine – Maine Maritime Academy's Lauren Plissey (Hermon, Maine) has been named the North Atlantic Conference (NAC) Women's Basketball Player of the Week for the second time this season.
Plissey led the Mariners to a 3-0 week, averaging 13.3 points, 7.7 rebounds, 2.0 assists, and 1.3 blocks per game, while shooting 73.7 percent overall from the floor. In the Mariners' 73-47 win over UMaine-Presque Isle on Wednesday, the sophomore tallied 10 points, six rebounds, three blocks, and a steal while shooting 50 percent from the floor. On Saturday, Plissey hit all five shots from the floor on her way to a game-high 15 points and added seven rebounds and five assists, to lead the Mariners to a 62-51 win over NVU-Lyndon. She remained hot through the weekend, shooting 83.8 percent while notching a double-double of 15 points and 10 rebounds, to go along with an assist, a steal and a block in the team's 69-38 win over NVU-Johnson on Sunday.
