Last Meeting: Senior Melinda Ogden (Searsport, Maine) hit nine three-pointers to set a Maine Maritime Academy women's basketball single-game record and scored a career-high 29 points as the Mariners cruised to a 93-51 victory over UMaine-Presque Isle on January 25, in North Atlantic Conference (NAC) action inside of Wieden Hall.

The Mariners scored 32 points in the first quarter, the team's highest point total in a quarter all season, and never looked back on their way to the victory.

Ogden went 10-of-18 from the floor and 9-of-17 from beyond the arc to amass her career-high 29 points and also pulled down five rebounds, dished out an assist and recorded a steal, while Samantha Mason (Lamoine, Maine) tallied a career-high 20 points to go with two assists, a rebound and a steal and Lauren Plissey (Hermon, Maine) grabbed a game-high 10 rebounds, while also adding five points, three blocks, three assists and three steals.

Kylie Vining led the Owls with 13 points, two rebounds, two assists and steal off the bench, while Marissa Reagle chipped in with nine points, eight rebounds and four assists.

Maine Maritime shot 45.5 percent from the floor and 40.7 percent from three-point land, while UMPI shot 35.1 percent overall and 25.0 percent from beyond the arc. The Mariners held a 43-28 advantage in rebounds.

The Mariners' 93 points are the team's highest point total since December 3, 2016 when they scored 96 points against the Owls, in Presque Isle.

Maine Maritime Academy's Last Game: Maine Maritime Academy women's basketball edged UMaine-Farmington 53-50 on Saturday afternoon in North Atlantic Conference (NAC) action inside of Dearborn Gymnasium.

The Mariners jumped out to a 4-0 lead early and led 11-7 at 6:02, but the Beavers went on an 6-1 run to lead 13-12 after the first quarter. The Beavers led for most of the second quarter, until a jumper from Samantha Mason gave the Mariners a 22-21 lead at halftime.

The Mariners began to pull away in the third, but the Beavers used a six-point run midway through the quarter to cut the Mariners' lead to one (31-30) at 3:32. The Mariners carried a 40-37 advantage into the final quarter, and hung on for the win.

Mason scored a team-high 13 points and added three rebounds to lead the Mariners, while Lauren Plissey notched a double-double with 12 points and a game-high 11 rebounds and added a block.

Alex Bessey and McKenna Brodeur led the Beavers with 13 points each, Bessey added four rebounds, two steals and an assist while Brodeur secured a double-double with a team-high 10 rebounds and chipped in with three assists and three blocks.

The Mariners shot 30.0 percent from the floor and 20.0 percent from behind the arc, while the Beavers shot 24.6 percent overall and 7.1 percent from three. The Mariners held a 50-43 advantage in rebounds.

UMaine-Presque Isle's Last Game: UMaine-Presque Isle fell to NVU-Lyndon 62-54 on Saturday afternoon in NAC action inside of Wieden Hall.

A tight game early, the Owls found themselves down by four, 34-30. Continuing to fight on the defensive end, bringing the game to a 39-39 tie with 3:30 left in the third. Going in the third down by two points. A quick 7-1 run in the first three minutes of the fourth by the Hornets, gave them an eight-point lead and they were able to hold off the Owls until the end.

Mariah Dunbar led all scorers with 20 points and four rebounds. While Hunter Mercier finished with 13 points on the night and Sarah Musselman finished the night with eight points, seven rebounds and three assists.

The Mariners: After 19 games the Mariners average 66.2 points, 42.6 rebounds, and 14.3 assists per game, while shooting 39.3 percent from the floor, 30.9 percent from three-point land and 65.5 percent from the line.

Melinda Ogden leads the Mariners with 13.8 points per game, while Lauren Plissey averages 11.3 points per game and leads the team with 8.4 rebounds, 2.2 blocks and 1.4 steals per game and Maureen Stanton (Abington, Mass.) leads the team with 3.5 assists per game.
