NORTHFIELD, Vt. – Maine Maritime Academy women's basketball cruised to a 57-35 non-conference victory over Norwich University on Sunday afternoon inside of Andrews Hall Gymnasium.
How it Happened: Maine Maritime went on an 11-2 run to close out the first quarter with a 14-8 lead and held the Cadets to just four points in the second quarter to take a commanding 27-12 lead into halftime.
The Mariners maintained their double-figure lead for the entire second half to claim the victory.
Inside the Numbers: Morgan Boudreau (Benton, Maine) led the Mariners with a game-high 16 points and also added two steals, Melinda Ogden (Searsport, Maine) contributed 15 points, including going a perfect 4-for-4 from three-point land, three rebounds, a steal and a block and Sydney Underhill-Tilton (Richmond, Maine) tallied 10 points, five rebounds, two assists and a steal. Lauren Plissey (Hermon, Maine) pulled down a game-high eight rebounds to go with four points, two assists and two blocks.
KristieAnn DeSilvio led Norwich with 11 points, three rebounds, two blocks and a steal and Riley Bennett chipped in with 10 points, two rebounds, two steals and an assist.
Maine Maritime shot 50.0 percent from the floor and 69.2 percent from three-point land, while the Cadets shot 25.0 percent overall and 14.3 percent from behind the arc. The Mariners held a 34-27 edge in rebounds.
Up Next: The Mariners improve to 8-3 overall, while the Cadets dip to 3-7 on the season. Maine Maritime returns to action on Tuesday night when they travel to UMaine-Machias for a 6:00 pm non-conference matchup.
