JOHNSON, VT – Maine Maritime men's soccer picked up a strong 4-0 win against NVU-Johnson on Sunday afternoon in a North Atlantic Conference (NAC) matchup.
How it Happened: Maine Maritime struck early when Reuben Harrison (Heidelbery, Germany) scored off a pass from Nicholas Helgerson (Providence, R.I.) in the eight minute to give the Mariners a 1-0 led. Noah Pratt (Greenville, Maine) chipped in another goal assisted by Elijah Yeaton (Farmington, Maine) in the 15th minute and Branden Pasternak (Orlando, Fla.) assisted Brad McKechnie (Passadumkeag, Maine) in the 23rd minute to extend the Mariners led to 3-0. Pasternak added a goal of his own in the 26th minute to round out the scoring for the Mariners.
Inside the Numbers: The Mariners held an impressive 17-4 advantage in shots and 9-1 advantage in corner kicks. Matthew Castella (San Antonio, Texas) and Maxwell Tomlin (Monroe, Maine) spilt time in net for the Mariners, with Tomlin making two saves on the day. Patrick Austin tallied four saves for the Badgers.
Up Next: Maine Maritime improves to 3-4-1 overall and 3-0-1 in conference, while NVU-Johnson falls to 1-5 overall and 0-4 in conference. The Mariners return to action on Saturday, October 2 at 2:30 pm when they host Thomas College in a NAC matchup.
